Participant Code of Conduct

To ensure a safe, respectful, and culturally enriching experience for all, every participant is expected to follow this Code of Conduct throughout the duration of the program. These guidelines are rooted in the values of Aloha, Respect, Responsibility, and Cultural Integrity.

🧭 Core Expectations

  1. Respect Self and Others

    • Treat fellow participants, staff, volunteers, and guests with kindness, patience, and courtesy.

    • Refrain from teasing, bullying, name-calling, or any behavior that could harm others physically or emotionally.

    • Follow staff directions promptly and with a positive attitude.

  2. Honor the ʻĀina and Ocean

    • Care for the land, ocean, and facilities as sacred spaces.

    • Practice sustainability and dispose of waste properly.

    • Participate in all cultural protocols and respect traditions shared during camp.

  3. Stay Safe and Accountable

    • Stay within designated camp areas unless with a staff member.

    • Attend all scheduled activities unless excused for health or safety reasons.

    • Report any injuries, unsafe conditions, or concerning behaviors to staff immediately.

  4. Uphold a Drug-, Alcohol-, and Tobacco-Free Environment

    • Possession or use of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products is strictly prohibited.

    • Violation of this policy will result in immediate dismissal from the program.

  5. Maintain Appropriate Boundaries

    • Physical contact must be respectful and appropriate.

    • Romantic or intimate behavior is not allowed during camp hours.

    • Respect others’ personal space, privacy, and belongings.

  6. Be Present and Engaged

    • Use of electronic devices will be limited to designated times to support cultural immersion and connection.

    • Participate actively and respectfully in all camp workshops, protocols, and group activities.

📝 Disciplinary Process

Violation of the Code of Conduct may result in:

  • A verbal warning and conversation with a camp leader

  • Notification to parent/guardian (if applicable)

  • Removal from certain activities

  • Dismissal from the program (transportation will be coordinated with parent/guardian or emergency contact)

Acknowledgment

All participants (and parents/guardians if under 18) must review and sign this Code of Conduct prior to the start of camp. By doing so, they agree to uphold the spirit and values of the Culture Camp.
